Run
8 Train Simulator's CTC Dispatching Mode
So
you want to be a dispatcher eh? Well in Run 8 Train
Simulator's CTC Dispatcher mode you can do just that!
And
it all starts by pressing F3 which brings up our CTC
Dispatching screen! The image above shows you what the
dispatcher screen looks like if you are the designated
dispatcher. If you are not the designated dispatcher
you can still pull up this screen, however you will
not see the signal, switch, and train indications. But
we wanted you to be able to pull up this screen regardless
so that you can take advantage of a really cool feature
in Run 8 Train Simulator and that feature is the ability
to "transport" to any control point on the
route. And all you have to do to use this feature is
put your cursor over one of the switch indicators (the
little "N" or "R") and press down
on your mouse wheel and you will instantly transport
to that switch location! We told you it was cool!
As
a dispatcher using this screen you can change signal
displays, and reverse and normalise switches which is
done by left clicking on them with your mouse. You can
also unlock any of the ctc switches by putting your
cursor over it and holding down the right mouse button
for five seconds until the indication turns blue. This
feature comes in handy if you have a local working out
at a siding and they need to make several moves over
a control point.
Another
feature we incorporated into Run8 CTC Dispatching is
the screen's night mode which turns a little darker
with a reddish hue for those late night session's you
want to run.
As
some of you know there is allot involved in being a
good dispatcher and we will provide some useful guidelines
to help you with that in the program. We will also provide
you with some work sheets that you can print out as
well to help you track trains in a session which we
think you will find useful as well.
And
there is one more screen that can be brought up by pressing
Shift-F3 which brings up a signal indication chart,
and a timetable for the route which shows stations,
speed limits, detector locations, and siding lengths
all of which we think you will find useful too.
Okay,
that sums up the Run 8 CTC Dispatching for now, if we
can think of anything else we will update this page.
