Run8 Basics Overview - Single-Player Operations Page 3

Welcome to the Run8 Basics Single-Player Operations Page 3.

Now that you have the train started and MU'd we will go to the back of the train and set the "EOTD", which stands for end of train device or EOT for short..

To get to the rear of our train once again we will use the W,S,A,D keys and our mouse, rememer you can also hold down the left Shift key or the Ctrl key to move faster. You can also unlock your camera (avatar) from the ground by pressing Shift+F12 and then you can fly back there if you want (F12 will put you back on the ground by the way).

NOTE: Once the train has been selected you can now press left Ctrl+F12 or left Ctrl+F11 to teleport to the rear or front of your train instantly.

The image on the right shows you the rear of the train and where to left click in order to bring up the "Coupler Options" window. So go ahead and try that and keep in mind that you need to be close to the coupler in order to get this window to come up. If you are too far away the "Rail Unit Options" window will come up instead so it may take a little practice at first.

Once you have the window open you want to select "Attach" and the EOT will appear on the end of the coupler as shown in the image to the right. And now that you have an EOT placed you can use the Ctrl+F11 keys to transport you quickly back to the cab of the lead locomotive or you can walk or run if you prefer.

Back in the cab you should now see your brake pressure indicated in the "Rear" box in the MFD and should read 90 psi. You will also notice that yellow EOT warning indicator is off now in the MFD window.

Before we can leave the yard we still have a couple of more things that we need to do. First we need to go down to the end of the yard and line ourselves out of the yard. This will require us to throw several manual switches as these switches are not CTC controlled.

We are going to line the switches out of the yard and across main 2 over to main 1 as shown in the image to the right. It is also worth noting that it is considered good practice to realign these switches back to normal once you get your train out of the yard and onto the main. Though it is not important right now, if you were in a multi-player session and you failed to do that you may catch some flack from the Dispatcher or another train crew or both so be mindfull of setting manual switches back to normal when you are done.

The second thing we need to do is set the CTC controlled signals and switches in the F3 dispatcher screen. So to continue please CLICK HERE
