PLEASE CLICK HERE TO BUY THE RUN8 BNSF BAKERSFIELD SUB ROUTE

NS South Fork Secondary Route:

The 30 mile NS South Fork Secondary runs from South Fork to either Windber Pa, or Central City. The South Fork Secondary is strictly a coal route. The line climbs steeply out of South Fork, past the South Fork Dam Memorial, on a nearly 2.4% ruling grade up to the summit. Most trains will either run in a 3X3 or 3X2 configuration, in a push-pull manner.

Along its course up to each of these mines, there is a split at “Scalp Level” (MP 14.3). This is where the South Fork Secondary splits and goes to Rose Bud #78 which is 3.5 miles from “Scalp Level” switch or 11.9 miles to the Huskin Run Mine and 16 miles to Shade Creek Mine.

NS Operations at South Fork

Inbound MTY coal trains (651,571,577) will run with road crews from Tyrone, in the East. Once at CP-W the train will enter the “Single Track” where an AI Special Instruction is set up to “Stop and Relinquish” at the East Wye Switch.

From this point, South Fork Local Crews will continue up the runner track to “JK”. The road power is assigned from the origination plant (Baltimore, Leetsdale, Ashtabula). From this point, the train will be assigned using the following symbols C47, C48, C49, C50 and C90-as these are the local symbols used on the South Fork Secondary.

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO BUY THE RUN8 LONE PINE BRANCH AND TRONA RAILWAY

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO BUY THE CSX FITZGERALD SUB

Run8's Lone Pine Branch and Trona Railway:

The UP\SP Lone Pine Branch starts at the Main 2 Switch just north of Mojave Yard, heading northeast across Highway 14. This branch originally ran for about 150 miles to Lone Pine, CA. In the early 1980's, the Southern Pacific Railroad filed for abandonment of roughly 100 miles from Searles, CA, to Lone Pine. Since then, this branch is only about 50 miles in length, running between Mojave Yard and Searles Yard. Between Mojave and Searles, there are a few industries served at Chaffee, Cantil & Saltdale.

The Trona Railway operates between Searles Yard and the town of Trona, CA, roughly 30 miles in length. Searles Yard is used as an interchange between the UP\SP Railroad and the Trona Railway. This line serves three mineral mining operations that operate next to Searles Lake (a dry lakebed) near the towns of Trona and Argus, CA. The current parent-company owns all three of these operations along with the Trona Railway and its tracks & equipment.

CSX Fitzgerald Sub:

Located in the heart of central Georgia, the Fitzgerald Subdivision is one of CSX's most vital arteries in the Southeast, linking Southern Georgia and Florida to the Midwest, including Atlanta, Birmingham, Chicago, Detroit, Nashville, and St. Louis, to name just a few major locations.

The Fitzgerald subdivision's northern end starts at the busy crew change point of Manchester, Georgia, which is also where the Lineville Subdivision from Birmingham and the Manchester Subdivision from Atlanta both merge into one single track line. The route then heads south, 220 miles, through several central Georgia towns, including Oglethorpe, Cordele, and Fitzgerald, to name just a few, before finally ending at the busy Waycross terminal in South Georgia.

The time period for the Fitzgerald Sub is set in the early 2000s, which was an extremely busy time for the route with multiple coal trains still heading to the Florida power plants as well as the usual freight, intermodal, molting sulfur, phosphate, rock, and autorack trains. This was also a time period where there was less line capacity, which always made for a challenging day for the Fitzgerald Subdivision dispatcher.

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO BUY THE CSX MOHAWK SUB FOR RUN8

CSX Selkirk yard is one of largest classification yards in the northeast. Serving New England, south to New York City, and north to the City of Albany via the Port Sub.

Today's Selkirk yard is a major hub for the gateway west and south. On any given day, 70+ trains either orginate, terminate or pass though Selkirk. Trains enter the yard, if terminating, 11 tracks called the receving yard, from there the power of the train is cut away and then brought into the fuel plant. From there the inbound trains, have their air bleed, and then humped over the 3.2% grade and re classed for new trains. Now you can enjoy this route in Run8 complete with a working hump and classification yard!
