Run
8 Train Simulator Basics 101
The
InSimOptions - Options tab
The
first thing we have at the top of the options tab is
the time and date windows which let's you set the time
and date to whatever you want. And Run 8 does feature
accurate sunrise and sunset times for every day of the
year and for any year you choose. This also includes
moon phases and star data all realitive to your current
lat. and lon. And yes, you can actually watch the moon
and stars move in realtime during a session in Run 8
at night!
Next
we have several settings which we let you change depending
on your pc specs so you can achieve the best balance
between framerates and graphics for your pc setup. Basically
we wanted to give you as many choices as possible to
get the sim running smoothly on your pc. There are a
couple of settings that warrant further explaination
and they are; "Night Ambient", this setting
lets you set how dark or light you want it to be at
night so let's say if the moon is out you could set
it to 0.10 infact some of the guys on our team will
set it even higher than that. "Seasick Multiplier",
this setting let's you control the magnitude of the
random jostling (multiplied by speed and then multiplied
by the seasick value) as you roll down the track regardless
of superelevation. Even if you set it to zero you'll
still superelevate normally in curves that are set for
superelevation. "Politically-Correct Messages",
hmm, not sure how to explain this one except to say
that the programmer John Greenstone has a interesting
sense of humor. The rest of the settings are pretty
self explanatory and there are "tool tips"
that will come up when you put your cursor over them
that will give you more detailed information however
you do need to have that option checked to see them
of course.
Next
we will visit the "Other" tab so click
here to begin.
