Now that we know how to start a locomotive in
Run8 we can now start having some fun. You can
continue working on your own session or you can
take a look at some of the ones we included.
NOTE:
After the route merging feature and BarstowYermo
was added to the program some of the trains in
Barstow no longer spawn in the Summer and Fall
sessions which are located in the BNSF MojaveSub
World section. But you will see trains between
Bakersfield and Barstow so they are worth checking
out and you can always use the TMU to copy a train
and spawn it somewhere else. There is also a briefing
that we did and you can find it in the "Paperwork"
folder. The default pathway looks like this;
C:
> Program Files (x86) > Run 8 Studios >
Run 8 Train Simulator > Content > Paperwork
The
file is named "Run8 Summer Session"
and is in a .RTF format which you can print out
if you like. The session briefing provides a sample
snapshot of what is going on over the railroad
on a particular date and time. The session files
that we provide can be modified to your own liking
and saved as new sessions using the F1 menu Spawn
tab.
Note:
To save a session just select "World"
and enter a name for the session and select save.
If you just want to save a single train just select
"Train" and enter a name for the train
and select save.
So
from the Run8 start menu select the BNSF_MojaveSub
and then World and then find the Run8
Summer Session. Then select Run Simulator.
You will spawn in the UP yard in Bakersfield
and you will be looking east. Now looking
at the Summer briefing we can see that
there is a UP MRVWC2 train on yard track
3 near the south end of the yard which
is actually east of your current location.
By the way if you don't know what direction
you are facing just press the Shift+Z
keys and a HUD will appear at the top
of the screen. There is allot of information
on the HUD but you will notice one called
"HDG" which is your heading.
Pressing Shift+Z again will disable the
HUD. But before we can grab another train
we will have to relinquish the one we
used to learn the start up procedure so
select the locomotive again that you started
and press the "Relinquish Control"
button at the top left of the Rail Unit
Options window (see the image to the right).
This should trun the locomotive off and
we can now proceed down to the south (east)
end of the yard.
The
image above shows the train we are looking
for, the MRVWC2, the symbol indicates
that it is a freight "manifest"
from Roseville, Ca to West Colton, Ca
and the 2 signifies it is the second one
to run today. Alright, go ahead and proceed
with the start up procedure that we went
over earlier on and this time make sure
to select the "Auto-MU All Locomotives"
button as we have five locomotives on
the point of this train. Next we will
set the EOT..
